About the role
Critical Facilities Technician | London | £45,000-£65,000
Critical Facilities Technicians ensure the mechanical and electrical systems powering the data centre run flawlessly.
You'll manage high‑availability infrastructure including UPS, generators, switch-gear, cooling systems, and fire suppression. This role is ideal for candidates with strong M&E backgrounds who want to work in a precision‑driven, mission‑critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems
- Monitor BMS systems and respond to alarms
- Support load testing, switching operations, and emergency procedures
- Maintain cooling systems including CRAC/CRAH units and chillers
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards
- Work closely with engineering teams during upgrades and expansions
Qualifications Required
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3+, City & Guilds, 18th Edition)
- Strong understanding of UPS, generators, switch gear, and cooling systems
- Experience in critical environments (data centres, hospitals, industrial plants)
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow SOPs/EOPs
- Desirable: HV switching experience, F‑Gas certification
