Long Term Futures is working with a Wandsworth based school to recruit a Teaching Assistant. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate specialising in English or Humanities to gain invaluable classroom experience.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting students’ academic progress and engagement across the curriculum. This is a long-term contract designed for those looking to build a career in education and potentially progress into teacher training.
 

Responsibilities

• Providing targeted academic support to students within the English or Humanities departments.
• Leading small group interventions to boost literacy and subject-specific understanding.
• Assisting the class teacher in managing classroom dynamics and preparing learning materials.
• Supporting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring an inclusive environment.
• Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teachers and parents.

 

Essential Candidate Requirements

• A degree in English or a Humanities subject (e.g., History, Geography, Philosophy).
• A genuine passion for education and supporting the development of young people.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
• Previous experience in a school or youth-work setting is advantageous but not essential.
• A proactive, “can-do” attitude and a willingness to learn.
