Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Redditch

We are currently working exclusively with a primary school in Longbridge who are seeking a skilled and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team. This position is on a full time basis for a full academic year, with the opportunity to turn permanent.

About the role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and social development of the student. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing classrooms for lessons, including setting up televisions for video presentations and sourcing books and handouts for students
• Teaching classes unassisted, especially when Teachers are ill or on leave
• Planning and delivering learning and enrichment activities, either with Teachers or independently
• Working with small groups of students or individuals needing special attention
• Developing specialist curricula in areas of interest
• Assessing students’ progress and discussing development with Teachers, parents and Carers
• Consoling students who are unwell, injured or upset
• Supervising student groups on excursions and at sporting events

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

• Hold a minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Successful relevant experience of working with children of relevant age within a learning environment
• Experience of delivering whole class teaching
• Full working knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice and legislation plus working knowledge and experience of implementing national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes
• Good understanding of child development with the ability to apply behaviour management policies and strategies which contribute to a purposeful learning environment
