Principal Electrical EngineerDorset Innovation Park, Dorchester Permanent Competitive SalaryAre you an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to take the lead on cutting-edge maritime projects?TKMS ATLAS UK is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to drive the design and integration of electrical systems across our advanced sonar, submarine, and autonomous technology programmes.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking team, delivering robust, safe, and compliant solutions that make a real impact in the defence and autonomous systems sector.What you’ll be doing:• Leading the design and development of electrical systems for complex maritime products• Defining architectures, selecting components, and ensuring safety and EMC compliance• Producing and reviewing schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable assemblies• Supporting integration, testing, and commissioning activities• Conducting design reviews and maintaining documentation accuracy• Coaching and mentoring junior engineers to grow team capability• Collaborating with suppliers, customers, and multidisciplinary teamsWhat we’re looking for:• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)• Strong knowledge of electrical system design, including power distribution and control systems• Experience with CAD tools and CE/UKCA directives• Familiarity with EMC, electrical safety, and industry standards• System-level integration and debugging experience• PLCs, motor control, or automation knowledge (desirable)• A strong communicator, problem solver, and team player with leadership skillsWhy TKMS ATLAS UK?With a reputation for providing innovative underwater systems for the Royal Navy (RN) and export customers, TKMS ATLAS UK operates from our Headquarters on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
