About the role
We are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a First School based in Droitwich. This SEN Teaching Assistant role will involve working within the school's SEN hub, supporting a small group of children with a range of additional needs and helping to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
The role will involve providing targeted support to pupils within the SEN hub, helping children access learning activities, develop their communication and social skills, and build confidence and independence. The hub is made up of several support staff and a dedicated SEN Teacher who leads the provision, providing a collaborative team environment where pupils receive consistent and tailored support. The school is looking for a patient, nurturing, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant who can work effectively as part of a team and support children with a range of individual needs.
This role is full-time and long-term, starting after the October half-term break. The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a primary school, first school, or specialist education setting, ideally supporting children with additional needs. The ability to adapt support to meet individual pupils' needs, implement strategies provided by the SEN Teacher, and contribute positively to the wider team is essential.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
-
Supporting a small group of children with a range of additional needs within the school's SEN hub.
-
Providing individualised support to help pupils access the curriculum and participate in learning.

Using appropriate strategies to support pupils with emotional regulation and behavioural needs.
-
Implementing individual support strategies and following guidance provided by the SEN Teacher.
-
Helping children manage transitions, classroom routines, and changes throughout the school day.
-
Providing one-to-one support where needed, alongside small-group learning activities.
-
Helping pupils engage in play-based and structured learning activities.
-
Providing encouragement and positive reinforcement to help children develop their skills.
-
Working collaboratively with other Teaching Assistants and support staff within the SEN hub.
-
Communicating effectively with the SEN Teacher and wider school team to ensure consistent support.
-
Helping to maintain a safe, calm, and structured learning environment.
-
Maintaining a strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.
To be successful in this SEN Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

Previous experience working within a Primary School, First School, or specialist education setting.

-
Experience supporting children with additional needs would be highly desirable.
-

-
A patient, calm, nurturing, and empathetic approach to supporting children's learning.
-
Confidence supporting children who may require additional guidance to access learning activities.
-
An understanding of positive behaviour management and strategies to support emotional regulation.
-
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
-
