In addition, as part of a strategically important industry, Urenco is now required to support the UK Government in exploring options to re-establish nuclear fuel capabilities to produce reactor fuel for defence purposes.
To support this new project, we are seeking a Procurement Manager to join our global team, based at our Capenhurst site. In this role, you will work within our Government Services function as a key interface between site teams and Group stakeholders to ensure effective planning, coordination, and delivery across complex programmes.

About the Role
As a Procurement Manager, you will lead procurement activities across the UGS business, ensuring the effective sourcing of goods and services while protecting commercial interests and delivering value. You will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, overseeing procurement governance, and supporting both capital and operational expenditure programmes.
You will work closely with local and global stakeholders to ensure procurement activities align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and Group standards, while contributing to the ongoing development of procurement capability and future business growth.
What You’ll Do
Lead Procurement Delivery
- Working in conjunction with Group Procurement lead procurement activities across the UGS business, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and governance requirements.
- Develop and maintain procurement plans that support operational and strategic business objectives
- Support the implementation of category strategies and procurement initiatives in collaboration with Group Procurement, fully leveraging Group Procurement for the benefit of the UGS business.
Manage Supplier & Commercial Relationships
- Develop and maintain strong supplier and stakeholder relationships.
- Ensure contracts, supplier agreements, and procurement decisions meet business, regulatory, and statutory requirements, and are aligned with Group Procurement standards.
- Support supplier onboarding and ongoing supplier performance and relationship management.
Drive Business Performance
- Deliver value through effective procurement strategies and commercial management.
- Support capital and operational expenditure projects through procurement and commercial expertise.
- Monitor procurement performance, savings delivery, and business partner satisfaction.
Lead & Develop the Team
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the Procurement team.
- Ensure resources are effectively allocated to meet business priorities.
- Drive capability development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across the procurement function.
What Do You Need to Thrive in This Role?
Qualifications
- Degree qualified (or equivalent experience)
- CIPS qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior procurement role.
- Experience leading procurement teams and supplier relationships.
- Experience working within capital-intensive or regulated environments.
Technical & Leadership Capability
- Strong procurement, commercial, and contract management expertise.
- Ability to develop procurement strategies and deliver value through supplier management.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
