Communication Systems Engineer co

We are looking for a Communication Systems Engineer to join us at SNC Mission Systems UK in Plymouth. We provide tailored mission systems integration and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions for the UK Government and its allies.

As a Communication Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure communication systems. No two days will be the same, as you will deliver complex, high-impact solutions to meet operational requirements. Teamwork is second nature to you as you will collaborate with stakeholders across the business and work closely with our Senior Communication System Engineers to design, build, configure and maintain mission systems.

Some of your responsibilities will include…

• Assist in the development and optimisation of communication system architectures to meet project and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and network teams to integrate communication systems into broader solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to communication system performance and compatibility.
• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including specifications, design documents, and test plans.

We are looking for someone who is experienced in configuring, operating, and securing networks. To apply for this role, you need to have…

• Knowledge of troubleshooting tools, methods and processes.
• Proven experience supporting production environments.
• Ability to configure custom GPOs and firewalls to enhance security.
• Experience with the configuration of hypervisors and deployment of virtual machines.
• Experience in the use of Linux command line interface.
• Familiarity with message formats (desirably tactical data links).
• Experience in the configuration and maintenance of cloud technologies.
