Senior Data Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help shape and deliver data reporting solutions for large-scale capital projects. Based in the UK with a hybrid arrangement from Warrington, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex data challenges and influencing reporting strategies on major programmes. This role is suited to someone who can work directly with stakeholders to translate business needs into trusted data solutions, ensuring data lineage, governance and stability over time. Location and Working PatternUK-based roleHybrid: 3 days in Warrington office, 2 days remoteOccasional UK and Ireland travel for workshops and project mobilisationClient Overview Our client delivers project controls and reporting support for major infrastructure and energy programmes. They focus on providing accurate insights for critical decision-making in complex environments. ResponsibilitiesDerive reporting metrics by working backwards from the required decision to the source dataExtract and integrate data from multiple sources, including APIs, exports and structured manual inputsHandle complex sources such as Excel, XML (including XER/P6), PDFs and scanned documents with careful validationDevelop and maintain a robust data model across raw, conformed and reporting layersBuild governance into every step, including reconciliation, lineage tracking and exception reportingDesign and operate the reporting and Azure data platform to production-level standardsMust-have RequirementsProven track record in delivering reporting products from initial concept to go-live under tight deadlinesExperience with cost, schedule, risk, change and safety data within capital delivery projects (construction, infrastructure, energy, utilities, defence or nuclear)Requirements-led data modelling, including dimensional modelling and layered warehouse designAdvanced SQL and Python skillsProfessional-level experience using Azure Data Platform (Data Factory or Fabric, Synapse or SQL) and Power BIEffective and credible in client-facing roles, including leading workshops and securing data accessNice-to-have SkillsKnowledge of NEC3/NEC4 and its application in systems like CEMARPractical experience with Primavera P6, including XER/P6 XML parsingFamiliarity with Oracle Unifier, Aconex, ProjectWise, Asite or similar CDE platformsUnderstanding of earned value forecasting and tools such as dbt or equivalent transformation-as-code frameworksApply Now If you’re a skilled Data Engineer with a passion for building reliable analytics solutions in project environments, we’d love to hear from you.
