The Opportunity
We are supporting an NHS Trust in the West Midlands with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Plastic Surgeon to join an established Plastic Surgery service and provide specialist surgical care across a broad range of clinical presentations.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the Trust's Plastic Surgery department, working as part of a multidisciplinary team and contributing to the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred surgical care.
The role will involve participation in the full rota, including on-call commitments.

The Role
The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Plastic Surgery services within the Trust.
The role will include:
- Providing Consultant-level Plastic Surgery care
- Assessment and management of elective and emergency Plastic Surgery patients
- Undertaking appropriate surgical procedures
- Pre-operative assessment and surgical planning
- Post-operative patient management and follow-up
- Supporting outpatient Plastic Surgery clinics
- Participating in elective and emergency theatre activity
- Participating in the full rota, including on-call commitments
- Managing urgent and emergency referrals as required
- Working collaboratively with surgical, nursing and wider multidisciplinary teams
- Providing clinical leadership and support to junior medical staff
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation
- Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
- Previous NHS Consultant-level Plastic Surgery experience
- Strong clinical experience across Plastic Surgery
- Experience managing elective and emergency Plastic Surgery patients
- Experience participating in Consultant on-call rotas
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, leadership and clinical decision-making skills
- Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred surgical care
- Availability to participate in a full rota including on-call commitments
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working within an NHS Plastic Surgery department
- Broad experience across Plastic Surgery subspecialties
- Experience in service development and quality improvement initiatives
- Teaching and supervision experience
- Clinical audit or research experience
