Year 2 Teaching Assistant

Zest Education are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in Great Barr. This is a full-time position with an immediate start, supporting our Key Stage 1 team to provide high-quality learning experiences for pupils.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate lessons
• Work with small groups and individual pupils to support their learning and progress
• Help create a nurturing, safe, and stimulating classroom environment
• Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and daily routines
• Encourage positive behaviour and social skills through structured activities and play
• Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues

Candidate Requirements

• Relevant childcare or teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent)
• Experience working with children in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2
• Knowledge of the national curriculum and child development
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, supportive, and proactive approach to working with young children

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
