Waiter / Waitress

We are recruiting an accomplished Waiter / Waitress for a professional permanent opportunity in Brighton. The role sits within Hospitality, Events & Retail and is aligned to Restaurants & Events. This role is suited to a capable professional who can deliver attentive table service and a positive guest experience. Working within Restaurants & Events, you will take ownership of orders, menu knowledge, service, payments, table presentation, guest queries and upselling. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical or professional capability with sound judgement, clear communication and a consistently high standard of service. Key Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day ownership of orders, menu knowledge, service, payments, table presentation, guest queries and upselling.
• Apply sound professional judgement to deliver attentive table service and a positive guest experience.
• Deliver work accurately, efficiently and in line with agreed deadlines and service standards.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues, clients, customers or stakeholders and provide timely updates.
• Maintain complete, accurate and appropriately confidential records and documentation.
• Identify risks, issues or exceptions early and take appropriate action or escalate where necessary.
• Work collaboratively with the wider team and contribute positively to service quality and operational performance.
• Follow all relevant legislation, professional standards, organisational policies and health & safety requirements.
• Look for practical opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, customer experience or outcomes.
• Maintain current knowledge, skills and professional development relevant to the role.

Essential Requirements

• Demonstrable experience working as a Waiter / Waitress or in a closely related role.
• Practical experience relevant to Restaurants & Events.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a professional and service-focused approach.
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, use sound judgement and contribute effectively as part of a team.
• Confidence using the systems, technology and documentation required for the role.

Qualifications Required

• Hospitality or food-service experience desirable; food safety awareness preferred.

• Previous experience in a comparable Restaurants & Events environment.
• Additional relevant professional training, certification or membership.
• Evidence of continuous professional development and up-to-date sector knowledge.
