About the role

Introduction to the Practice

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Veterinary Surgeon to join their busy, growing, purpose-built clinic. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a rapidly expanding group of independent, family-owned practices, dedicated to providing quality, affordable, and Fear Free-centred healthcare for pets.

The Role

The successful Veterinary Surgeon will work 4 days per week, from 08:30 am to 7:00 pm, with a mix of consulting and theatre slots. Daily administration time is factored in, and consults are 15 minutes long. There is also a 1:5 Saturday morning rota (08:30 am - 1:00 pm), which may increase as the clinic and vet team expand. There are no out-of-hours duties. Our client is open to considering a part-time role of 3 days a week.

The team includes a fantastic group of vets, 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), 2 Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs), and 4 front-of-house Care Co-ordinators. The practice boasts 4 consult rooms, a waiting room, 1 theatre, and separate dog and cat wards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering high-quality veterinary care with a Fear Free centred approach.

  • Managing a varied caseload of consultations and surgical procedures.

  • Working comfortably in a sole charge capacity on Saturday mornings.

  • Collaborating effectively with the existing veterinary and nursing team.

About the Area

Stockton-on-Tees is a vibrant market town in the North East of England, situated on the banks of the River Tees. The town is well-regarded for its friendly atmosphere and is a great base for exploring the Tees Valley.

What's on Offer

  • Salary from £40,000 to £65,000, dependent on experience.

  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays (Good Friday worked with a day in lieu).

  • Private Medical Insurance including Employee Assistance Programme access.

  • £1000 standard CPD allowance with scope to study towards certificates.

  • Fear Free training and accreditation as standard.

  • Day off for birthday.

  • Three days off to work for a local charity of your choice.

  • Workplace pension scheme.

  • FREE Total Wellness Plans for your own pets – 25% discount off subsequent plans and all other treatments.

  • RCVS and VDS fees paid.

  • Quarterly 'fun budget' for team social events.

  • Summer and Christmas group social events.

  • Ad hoc trips to the South of France for CPD, plus a chance for team members to win a trip to the North American Vet Congress.

Minimum Requirements: 3 years UK experience or 2 years if hospital-based. Must be comfortable with sole charge on Saturday mornings.
