Interim Financial Controller

Interim Financial Controller | Wellingborough | 6–9 months

To start ASAP | Predominantly on site and office based, with the potential of working 1–2 days a week hybrid and from home.

Ethos Talent is proud to be working exclusively with an established UK manufacturing group to appoint an interim Financial Controller. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll lead finance, share responsibility for the P&L and balance sheet, and help shape pricing and investment decisions as the business looks ahead to 2027.

By far the biggest appeal in this role and business - is how close you’ll be to the decisions. You might spend the morning on the factory floor understanding why a product costs more to make than planned, then sit down with sales and the MD to agree what to do about it.

What you’ll do

• Lead monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts, giving the leadership team a clear view of performance and where to act.
• Work with sales and operations on bills of materials, standard costs and pricing to improve product and customer margins.
• Release cash by addressing excess stock and overdue debt. Help operational teams reduce waste and assess investment opportunities.
• Strengthen financial controls, coach a member of the finance team and make better use of the ERP system to give colleagues timely, reliable information.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an ACMA, ACCA or ACA-qualified Finance Manager or Financial Controller with at least six years’ post qualification experience across manufacturing finance and financial control. You’ll know standard costing, stock valuation and working capital well, and enjoy working alongside the people behind the numbers. Experience of working in engineering, production and / or supply chain sectors would also be advantageous and desirable.
