About the role
This opportunity is with a long-established, privately owned multidisciplinary engineering Consultancy operating across the UK. The business delivers integrated engineering services across the built environment, combining Civil and Structural Engineering expertise with a range of complementary disciplines. Its collaborative structure supports projects from early feasibility through detailed design and construction, providing clients with coordinated, technically robust solutions across multiple sectors. The Structural Engineering team forms a core part of the Consultancy’s service offering and is recognised for delivering innovative, efficient and sustainable structural solutions. The team works on a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from smaller refurbishment and residential schemes through to complex, large-scale commercial and mixed-use developments. Design work is informed by a strong understanding of buildability, materials and sustainability, with an emphasis on optimising structural forms and reducing material usage through intelligent analysis and modern 3D design tools. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design and detailing of structural elements in a variety of materials, including steel, concrete, masonry and timber. The role involves producing calculations, drawings, technical specifications and written reports in accordance with current UK design standards and building regulations. The successful candidate will also undertake site inspections, respond to contractor queries during construction and ensure that designs are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard. Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team based in Leeds city centre, the Structural Engineer will collaborate closely with colleagues across Civil Engineering and other technical disciplines, contributing to coordinated design solutions and positive client relationships. The role includes supporting and mentoring junior team members, assisting with technical reviews and contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes and quality standards within the team. Applicants are expected to be educated to degree level in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering and to be working towards Chartered status with a recognised professional institution. They should have demonstrable experience in a Consultancy environment, with strong technical competence, sound engineering judgement and the ability to manage workloads across multiple projects. Clear communication skills, a proactive approach and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team are essential. The position offers a clear career development path within a supportive professional environment, with ongoing training, structured support towards professional qualifications, and exposure to a wide range of projects. A competitive salary and flexible benefits package are provided, alongside a workplace culture that values technical excellence, collaboration and long-term professional growth.
