As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning when teachers are absent, ensuring students remain focused, engaged, and on task throughout the school day. The Role As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering pre-planned lessons and managing classroom behaviour in the teacher's absence. You will ensure students complete the work set, maintain a positive learning environment, and support pupils in achieving their academic goals. This is a varied and rewarding role that offers valuable experience across a range of subjects while helping students develop confidence, independence, and resilience. Main Responsibilities Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of subject areas. Supervise classes of KS3 and KS4 students in the absence of their usual teacher. Ensure students remain on task and complete work set by teaching staff. Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management. Support students with their learning and answer questions where appropriate. Create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment. Manage classroom expectations in line with school behaviour policies. Record attendance and report any concerns to relevant staff members. Provide feedback to teaching staff on lesson progress and student engagement. Build positive relationships with students and school staff. Promote confidence, resilience, and independent learning. Candidate Profile Experience working with young people in education, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or a similar setting is desirable. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Confidence managing groups of secondary-aged students. Excellent organisational and classroom management skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and adaptable. A genuine interest in education and supporting young people. Aspiring teachers and graduates are encouraged to apply. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
