About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Trading Application Support Analyst on a 12 month FTC to join our IT Production team in London.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Trading Application Support Engineer in IT Production, you will help keep CMC Markets’ trading platforms available, stable and performing effectively across web, mobile and API channels. Working with colleagues in London, Singapore and Sydney, you will investigate incidents, support controlled releases and maintenance, and improve monitoring, documentation and automation.
You will work closely with development, infrastructure and other support teams, providing clear incident updates and effective handovers through our follow-the-sun support model.
The trading platforms run across AWS and on-premises infrastructure, using Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows. The London and Singapore teams primarily support Linux-based trading applications, while the Sydney team primarily supports Windows-based applications.
Responsibilities:
Support the availability and performance of the company’s trading applications across web, mobile and API channels.
- Provide 1st and 2nd line support for the trading platforms.
- Monitor application health and performance, investigate alerts and escalate issues as required.
- Proactively identify and resolve application and operational issues across both production and non-production environments.
- Investigate application incidents, restore service using approved procedures, and escalate software defects to development teams with relevant diagnostic evidence and business impact.
- Liaise with external vendors, other support teams and development departments to ensure incidents are resolved.
- Review and implement improvements to support processes and monitoring where appropriate, as well as ensuring operational documentation is maintained.
- Implement deployments and changes in accordance with release and change management processes.
- Plan, execute and review maintenance tasks and deployments between IT and development teams.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity testing.
- Shifts on a weekly rotational basis – this will include some weekend on call work, rotated through the team.
- Maintain your professional development to meet the changing demands of the role, including all relevant regulatory and legislative training.
- When dealing with all customers, clients or colleagues ensure that we provide a clear, fair and consistent high quality service that presents a professional and positive image of CMC Markets.
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality.
- Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
Essential:
- Able to investigate technical issues independently and recognise when to escalate.
- At least three years of experience in IT support.
- At least one year of experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux or another Linux/Unix operating system, including scripting.
- At least one year of experience supporting Java or .NET applications.
Desirable:
- Experience working in financial services.
- Experience working within an ITIL framework.
- Experience with market data and the FIX protocol.
- Experience with AWS.
