Location: Oxford
Working model: Hybrid
Contract: Interim (immediate start)
Salary / Rate: £250
Role:
To take ownership of revenue accounting and month end for a growing, profitable business. The role covers project and maintenance contract revenue: making sure applications for payment and billing go out on time, revenue and accrued income are accounted for correctly, and accurate monthly management accounts are produced. You will join at an important point, supporting December year end, the external audit and the move to Microsoft Dynamics 365, and you'll help stabilise and rebuild the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the contractual revenue cycle on install projects, from applications for payment through to certificates of payment and interim invoicing.
- Oversee maintenance contract revenue, ensuring billing is complete, accurate and timely.
- Calculate and review accrued and deferred income across project and maintenance contracts.
- Work closely with project managers and operational teams on valuations, billing and contract performance.
- Maintain contract and certification records in the relevant systems.
- Prepare the monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Attend business meetings and provide clear commentary on revenue and performance.
- Support the December year end and the external audit.
- Support the move from legacy systems onto Microsoft Dynamics 365, due in the first half of January.
- Maintain documented process notes and contribute to continuous process improvement.
- Management accounting experience in a high volume transactional environment.
- Contractual or project revenue experience, ideally from construction, contracting, fire safety or building services. This is a strong advantage.
- Experience of service, maintenance or contract based revenue is beneficial.
- Strong month end, accruals and reconciliation skills.
- Confident working with non finance stakeholders such as project managers and contractors.
- Robust and hands on, comfortable with busy month ends and keen to help rebuild a team.
- AAT, part qualified ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience (QBE considered for interim).
- Access Dimensions or Dynamics 365 knowledge is a bonus.
- Immediate start, with a structured handover and well documented processes.
- Hybrid working with flexible start and finish times.
- Study support for those working towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA (permanent hires).
- A visible role in a profitable business targeting £70m turnover next year.
