Supported Housing Coordinator

We're looking for a Supported Housing Coordinator to join our Homelessness Team within the Housing, Property and Regeneration Directorate at the West Midlands Combined Authority.

This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in delivering a new regional Supported Housing Programme, funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

As the Supported Housing Coordinator, you'll coordinate the delivery of this ambitious programme, working closely with Birmingham City Council and Coventry City Council to increase the supply of good quality supported housing support services, with a primary focus on preventing and relieving single homelessness and reducing rough sleeping.

You'll also work with a wide range of partners to design a research and evaluation plan to build the evidence base that will shape future investment, lead the development of the region's first Supported Housing Strategy and support preparations for the implementation of the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023, helping to create a joined-up, coherent regional approach that brings together funding, quality, regulation and evidence.

This is a varied and rewarding role, combining programme coordination, partnership working, strategic planning, contract administration and performance management. Working across organisational boundaries, you'll bring together local authorities, housing providers, researchers and government partners to ensure the programme delivers lasting impact.

What you will be doing.

As our Supported Housing Coordinator, you will:

• Coordinate the delivery of the WMCA Supported Housing Funding Programme, monitoring progress, performance and outcomes across the region.
• Lead the development of the West Midlands' first Supported Housing Strategy, ensuring it reflects national policy, regulatory reform and emerging evidence.
• Design and oversee research and evaluation activity to strengthen the evidence base and inform future funding decisions.
• Build strong relationships with local authorities, housing providers, government departments and other regional partners.
• Commission and manage external research and consultancy projects to support programme delivery.
• Develop monitoring and reporting frameworks, ensuring delivery milestones, risks and outcomes are effectively managed.
• Coordinate opportunities for partners to share learning, best practice and innovation across the region.
• Produce reports, briefings and performance updates for senior leaders and governance groups.
• Monitor programme budgets, financial returns and grant claims, ensuring value for money and robust governance.
• Represent WMCA at regional and national meetings, promoting the work of the programme and influencing the future of supported housing.

About you

You'll be a collaborative and organised professional with experience of working in supported housing, homelessness or related housing or social care setting.

You'll enjoy bringing people together, managing complex programmes and turning strategy into action. You'll be equally comfortable analysing performance data, coordinating projects and building strong partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.

What’s essential.

You will have:

• Experience of working in supported housing, homelessness or a closely related housing / social care field.
• Experience coordinating programmes or projects involving multiple organisations and stakeholders.
• Experience developing strategies, action plans or policy frameworks and supporting their implementation.
• Experience producing reports, briefings or papers for senior leaders or governance boards.
• Strong partnership working skills, with experience building effective relationships across organisations.
• A good understanding of supported housing, including commissioning, funding, regulation and current policy developments.
• Knowledge of homelessness policy, legislation and the wider housing landscape.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, research and financial information to support decision-making.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence a range of audiences.
• Strong organisational and programme management skills, including planning, monitoring progress and managing risks.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Location.

The location for this role is Summer Lane, Birmingham with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
