The Best Connection are currently recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 (CE) Night Drivers for ongoing work based in Team Valley, Gateshead.
This is an excellent opportunity for professional HGV drivers seeking regular night work, competitive pay rates and the potential for permanent employment.
The role involves night trunking and shunting duties, with a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern and no multi-drop deliveries.
The Role
- Driving HGV Class 1 vehicles on planned night trunking routes
- Transporting goods safely between sites
- Shunting HGV vehicles and trailers within a secure site when required
- Completing vehicle checks and ensuring loads are secure
- Following site procedures and safety requirements
- Working regular night shifts on a 4 on / 4 off rota
- Ongoing temporary work with the opportunity to become permanent
The Candidate
To be considered, you must:
- Hold a valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category CE) driving licence
- Have a valid Driver CPC qualification
- Hold a valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Have previous HGV Class 1 driving experience
- Have trunking or night driving experience (preferred)
- Be comfortable working regular night shifts
- Be reliable, punctual and safety-conscious
- Be flexible and able to work a 4 on / 4 off rota
- Be able to commute reliably to Team Valley, Gateshead

- 4 on / 4 off shift pattern
- Night shifts
- Regular, ongoing work
- Weekend and bank holiday working as part of the rota
Pay Rates
- Monday to Friday: £17.43 per hour
- Monday to Friday after 8 hours: £18.45 per hour
- Saturday: £17.68 per hour
- Sunday: £19.48 per hour
- Bank Holidays: £21.52 per hour
