About the role
Our client, a well-established UK professional services firm, is looking for an Audit Manager to lead a portfolio of audit clients across its South East offices, with the flexibility to work between Gatwick and Maidstone.
Why This FirmThis is a firm with a strong foothold in the South East, supporting international organisations, SMEs and entrepreneurs, including businesses linked to one of the region's major transport and logistics hubs. It ranks among the UK's larger accountancy firms, holds Gold accreditation from Investors in People, and is part of a wide international network, so Managers here work with a varied client base without losing the feel of a regional office.
What The Job Actually InvolvesYou'll manage a portfolio of audit clients, taking responsibility for planning, delivery and review, and acting as the main point of contact for your clients alongside the Partner. The aim is to deliver a high-quality service while making sure each engagement is run profitably, and to spot where the firm's wider services could help your clients.
You'll also lead and develop your team, allocating work, briefing seniors and juniors on what's expected, answering queries as the audit progresses, and reviewing files before they reach Partner sign-off. With two offices to work across, you'll play a part in building the audit practice in the region and bringing teams together.
What You'll Need- ACA or ACCA qualified, with experience in practice at Manager level
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102, FRS 101 and IFRS
- Experience managing client portfolios and developing junior staff
- Confidence working with a mix of owner-managed and larger corporate clients
- Good working knowledge of Excel and Word; experience of Sage or CaseWare is an advantage
You'll get agile working built around core hours of 10am to 2pm with two home-working days each week, 33 days' holiday inclusive of bank holidays with the option to buy or sell up to 5 additional days, and a discretionary annual bonus alongside wider recognition awards. There's a structured succession-planning programme with a supportive management structure behind it, and a free, confidential 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme with unlimited counselling and virtual GP access for you and your family.
If you're an experienced auditor who wants a manager role with real ownership in the South East, get in touch.
