About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Resources & Production team, providing hands on technical expertise across our water treatment and production sites.
You’ll work as part of a flexible regional team, helping to plan, coordinate and deliver mechanical, electrical and ICA maintenance. From planned maintenance programmes to responding to emerging operational issues, you’ll play an important role in keeping our assets reliable and our sites performing effectively.
This is a varied role where no two days will necessarily look the same. You’ll work across different locations depending on operational priorities, identifying the root causes of plant failures, resolving issues and supporting improvements to asset reliability and performance. Travel across the South West Water and Bournemouth Water areas, including periods away from home, may be required.
What you’ll be doing
Planning, coordinating and delivering maintenance programmes across mechanical, electrical and ICA assets.
Providing hands-on maintenance support wherever operational priorities require it.
Diagnosing faults, identifying root causes of plant failure or poor performance and taking ownership of their resolution.
Preparing and reviewing risk assessments, method statements, procedures and other work documentation.
Supporting and mentoring new team members and apprentices.
Helping improve asset reliability through Lean Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
Supporting fast-tracked reviews of Water Treatment Works where performance or operational risk requires urgent intervention.
Working safely and in line with company procedures, policies and statutory requirements.
Participating in the standby rota to provide specialist out-of-hours maintenance support.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be an experienced maintenance professional with strong practical knowledge in at least one of mechanical, electrical or ICA equipment and systems, supported by a time-served apprenticeship and relevant formal qualifications such as City & Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC or HND.
You’ll also bring:
Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of a range of assets, equipment and treatment processes.
Experience of planning and delivering maintenance activities.
The ability to work independently, manage priorities and take ownership of your workload.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with operational teams, managers and supply-chain partners.
A flexible approach to working across different locations and responding to changing operational requirements.
A good understanding of relevant water quality, waste management and health and safety requirements.
A full UK driving licence.
