Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Opportunity

An established and growing Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Contractor based in the Mansfield area is looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join its team.

The company has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality M&E installations across a diverse range of projects, including commercial developments, education, residential schemes, refurbishments and renewable energy installations.

The Role

As Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a variety of mechanical building services projects.

Working closely with the management, design and project delivery teams, you will be involved in the full estimating process, from initial tender enquiries through to final submissions.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed mechanical estimates and tender submissions for building services projects.
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Producing accurate material, labour and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Obtaining and evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identifying opportunities for value engineering and cost savings.
• Attending tender meetings and liaising with clients, consultants and main contractors.
• Working alongside the design and project management teams to ensure smooth project handovers.
• Assessing commercial risks and ensuring tenders are both competitive and commercially viable.
• Supporting the business in securing new projects and developing existing client relationships.

About You

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the Building Services industry, ideally working for an M&E contractor.

You should have:

• A good technical understanding of mechanical building services, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, domestic water services and associated pipework systems.
• Experience estimating mechanical installations on commercial or residential projects.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Experience obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently whilst contributing to a wider team.

Experience with mechanical estimating software would be advantageous, although a strong technical background and practical estimating experience are equally important.
