The Opportunity

Morson is currently recruiting for an experienced Surfacing Contracts Manager to join a leading highways organisation, taking responsibility for the delivery of a planned surfacing programme across Surrey.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced highways professional with a strong background in road surfacing, resurfacing and local authority maintenance contracts.

You will take ownership of schemes from initial programming through to delivery and final handover, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

- Managing the delivery of carriageway and footway resurfacing schemes, including surface treatments.
- Taking ownership of the planned surfacing programme from initial planning through to completion and handover.
- Leading and managing supervisors, site teams and supply chain partners.
- Monitoring programme performance, budgets, cost reporting and commercial performance alongside the commercial team.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with Surrey County Councils highways team.
- Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
- Managing subcontractors and ensuring resources are effectively allocated across projects.
- Liaising with residents and key stakeholders to minimise disruption caused by highway works.
- Identifying and resolving operational challenges to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Surfacing Contracts Manager or in a similar senior highways role.
- Strong background managing road surfacing and resurfacing contracts.
- Ideally, experience working on local authority term maintenance contracts.
- Good technical knowledge of surfacing methods, asphalt materials and highways specifications.
- Experience managing NEC or similar forms of contract.
- Proven ability to lead site teams, supervisors and subcontractors.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience with programme and cost management.
- SMSTS, CSCS and NRSWA qualifications, or willingness to obtain them.
- Full UK driving licence.
