Contract Oracle Developer
Remote
3 Month Contract + Possible 3 Month Extension
Start Date: Mid-January 2027
Up to £450 p/d Inside IR35
Are you an Oracle Developer who knows how to upgrade an established SQL, PL/SQL and APEX estate without disrupting live service? This Contract Oracle Developer role is a fully remote, 3 month engagement with a well-established UK retail business, starting in mid-January.
The focus is clear: bringing the business’s Oracle applications up to the most recent versions of the relevant frameworks. You’ll join the in-house development team that supports the business’s retail applications, with the possibility of a further 3 month extension.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Upgrading existing Oracle applications, including Oracle APEX, to the most recent supported versions
- Reviewing and refactoring SQL and PL/SQL so it runs cleanly and performs well after the upgrade
- Testing upgraded applications thoroughly and resolving compatibility issues before they reach live
- Tuning SQL queries and database code for performance and scalability
- Agreeing implementation, backup and roll-back plans with the development and test managers for each change
- Documenting changes so the in-house team can support the upgraded applications going forward
What You’ll Bring
- Strong, recent commercial experience as an Oracle Developer using SQL and PL/SQL, with an emphasis on robust code
- Hands-on Oracle APEX development experience
- Experience of upgrading or migrating Oracle applications between versions
- Solid SQL performance tuning skills
- Familiarity with structured development tooling such as Azure DevOps
Desirable: Oracle Database upgrade experience, application support experience, .NET, retail sector experience
