SEN Teaching Assistant | Streatham | £93 – £115 PAYE | Full Time | Immediate Start Ortus Recruitment is working in partnership with a school in Streatham to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term position. This is an excellent opportunity for a caring and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting primary-aged pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will play an important role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence and build confidence in a supportive educational environment. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider SEN team, providing tailored support to meet pupils’ individual needs and helping them achieve their full potential. Candidates must be available for an immediate start. The Role – Key Responsibilities * Providing 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils with SEND. * Supporting pupils to access classroom activities and engage positively with their learning. * Adapting learning resources and activities to suit individual abilities and needs. * Encouraging the development of communication, social interaction and independent learning skills. * Supporting pupils’ emotional regulation, wellbeing and positive behaviour. * Working collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs and other support staff to ensure consistent support. * Assisting with personal care where required and in accordance with school policies. What We’re Looking For * Previous experience supporting children in a primary school, SEN setting or similar environment. * A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with additional needs. * Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. * Confidence in responding to different learning styles, abilities and behavioural needs. * A proactive attitude and a genuine passion for helping children succeed. * Reliability, professionalism and availability for an immediate start. * Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare or SEND are desirable.
