About the role
Telecoms Billing Analyst | Upto £36,000
We’re looking for an experienced Telecoms Billing and Finance Analyst to take ownership of our end-to-end Telecoms billing function. This is much more than a traditional billing role. You’ll manage two monthly billing runs covering approximately 100 customers and £6.2 million in annual sales, while also supporting month-end accounting, revenue control, credit control, supplier management and commercial reporting.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, you’ll be the key point of knowledge for billing and finance matters within the Telecoms team. You’ll make sure customer invoices and supplier charges are accurate, financial postings are completed to timetable and management has clear information to support pricing, margin and commercial decisions.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning the full customer billing process across two monthly bill runs
- Setting up customers, services, charges and price lists
- Validating supplier files and customer charges before invoices are issued
- Investigating billing errors and processing credits, adjustments and rebills
- Reconciling supplier costs against customer billing
- Preparing the monthly P&L and completing accruals, prepayments and reclassifications
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and supporting period-end financial postings
- Managing overdue accounts, billing disputes, direct debits and credit-control activity
- Making appropriate decisions regarding credits, write-offs and account suspension
- Raising approximately 100 purchase orders each month across around 50 suppliers
- Approving supplier invoices up to £5,000 and resolving supplier discrepancies
- Producing analysis covering revenue, expenditure, margins, cash flow, customer trends and churn
- Creating accessible reports and spreadsheets from complex financial and operational data
- Owning the annual customer price-increase process, from data preparation through to customer communications.
You’ll need strong billing and finance experience, with the confidence to take responsibility for a complete billing cycle and work independently without routine secondary checking.
You’ll also have
- An AAT Level 3 qualification, or equivalent demonstrable accounting knowledge
- Experience of owning an end-to-end billing cycle, including validation, reconciliation, credits, adjustments and rebills
- Practical month-end experience, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, balance sheet reconciliations and P&L preparation
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUPs and complex formulae
The ability to turn raw data into accurate and commercially useful information
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Confidence handling customer and supplier queries, disputes and credit-control conversations
- The judgement and ownership required to investigate issues and make appropriate decisions
- The ability to manage recurring billing and month-end deadlines.
Experience of SAP, Eclipse, telecommunications billing, revenue assurance, direct debit administration or annual price-change processes would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
