Role: Software EngineerSalary: Up to £55kLocation: Newton Abbot (Hybrid) Role ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain software across embedded, desktop and web-based platforms.Build secure, reliable applications and services within Linux-based environments.Improve development processes, automation, testing and deployment practices.Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver integrated hardware and software solutions.Manage technical projects, document solutions and support the development of junior engineers. Essential Skills & ExperienceMinimum 2 years' relevant experience, including:Python, DjangoReactLinux development, administration and system security.Embedded C programming and hardware interfacing.Docker, Git, CI/CD and automated testing.Messaging and infrastructure technologies such as RabbitMQ, Redis and Apache.Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, LDAP, SNMP and firewalls.Secure software development, vulnerability management and system hardening.Hardware fault-finding and technical troubleshooting. Desirable ExperienceEmbedded operating systems, particularly Zephyr and Yocto.Developing applications across Windows, Linux and macOS.Experience with electronics design and hardware production testing.Additional programming languages such as C++, C#, or Rust.Software security assessments and penetration testing.
