Passenger Assistant
Location: Conwy County Borough Council
Working Hours: 7:30am–10:30am and 2:30pm–5:30pm (split shifts)
Job Description
Conwy County Borough Council is looking for two reliable and caring Passenger Assistants to support the safe transportation of adults attending day care services.
You will work alongside council transport drivers, assisting passengers with their journeys between their homes and day care settings. Passengers may include older people and adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairments or learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist passengers safely when getting on and off transport vehicles.
- Support individuals with mobility difficulties and additional needs.
- Help passengers travel safely and comfortably between their homes and day care settings.
- Provide reassurance, guidance and practical assistance throughout journeys.
- Promote passengers’ dignity, independence and wellbeing.
- Work closely with drivers to ensure safe and smooth transportation.
- Be alert to passengers’ individual needs and respond appropriately to any concerns.
Essential Requirements
- A valid DBS check is essential.
- Previous experience supporting passengers or vulnerable adults is desirable.
- A patient, caring and reliable approach.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with individuals with varying support needs.
Desirable
- MIDAS Accessible Certificate.
- Previous passenger transport, escort or accessible transport experience.
Working Pattern
The role operates on a split-shift basis:
- Morning: 7:30am–10:30am
- Afternoon: 2:30pm–5:30pm
Total: 6 hours per day.
