About the role
A fantastic opportunity to drive business performance, lead change and play a pivotal role in future growth!
Chase & Holland are delighted to be partnering with an established manufacturing business based in Rotherham, who are looking to appoint a commercially minded and forward-thinking Financial Controller (Site No 1 Finance role), to play a key role in driving the business forward.
This is far more than a traditional Financial Controller role! Working closely with the General Manager and being part of the Senior Leadership Team, you'll have the opportunity to drive meaningful change, improve processes and influence key business decisions. With real autonomy to make your mark, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in improving business performance and supporting future growth.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the General Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the Regional Finance Director, you'll take ownership of the finance function whilst acting as a trusted commercial partner to the wider business. This is a highly visible and influential position where you'll be encouraged to challenge existing ways of working, identify opportunities for improvement and implement positive change across both finance and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive business performance: Work closely with the General Manager and senior leadership team to provide commercial insight, challenge decisions and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency
- Lead process improvements: Review existing financial processes including standard costings, systems and controls, identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements to support future business needs
- Support strategic growth: Translate business objectives into financial plans, providing meaningful analysis and recommendations to support key decisions
- Lead systems transformation: Take ownership of the finance-related SAP readiness project, ensuring processes, data, reporting and teams are prepared for a successful implementation
- Strengthen financial controls: Develop robust accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to improve accuracy, efficiency and compliance
- Oversee financial operations: Take responsibility for the finance function, including management reporting, financial accounting, cost accounting, inventory and transactional processes
- Drive budgeting and forecasting: Work collaboratively with departmental managers to develop meaningful budgets and forecasts, monitor performance and identify areas for improvement
- Improve financial visibility: Deliver accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting, helping operational leaders better understand performance and make informed decisions
- Champion continuous improvement: Work across finance and operations to introduce better ways of working, support change initiatives and build a more efficient, commercially focused finance function. Alongside overseeing the day-to-day financial operations, you'll play a leading role in transforming processes, enhancing reporting, improving business performance and preparing the business for a major SAP implementation project
- Confidence to challenge the status quo, passionate about getting involved across the wider business and bringing fresh ideas to help drive positive change
- Proven experience within a similar role combining strong technical accounting and a commercially focussed approach
- A recognised accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
- Manufacturing background with a good understanding of operational finance and cost accounting
- Proven experience of reviewing and improving financial processes, controls and reporting
- Strong financial systems knowledge (including SAP) and ideally experience across implementations/system development
- Benefits include Car Allowance or Car, Bonus, PMI, Flexible Working, EAP Programmes, Life Assurance, 4% Pension, 25 Days Holiday & BH’s and much more!
