Finance Manager

greenwellgleeson are recruiting for a hands-on Finance Manager to join a successful SME business based in Worcester.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, working closely with the Directors to provide accurate financial reporting, improve processes and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.

• Oversee the day-to-day finance function, including purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control and payroll.

• Manage cash flow, working capital and financial forecasting.

• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, providing meaningful commercial insight to senior management.

• Ensure accurate and timely VAT returns, statutory reporting and year-end audit preparation.

• Maintain robust financial controls, policies and procedures.

• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and operational efficiencies.

• Support the Directors with financial analysis, profitability reviews and strategic decision-making.

• Manage and develop a small finance team, ensuring effective delivery of financial operations.

About You

• Qualified with experience in an SME environment.

• Strong management accounting and financial control experience.

• Comfortable working in a hands-on role while contributing commercially to the wider business.

• Excellent Excel skills and experience using accounting systems.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with non-finance stakeholders.

• Proactive, adaptable and commercially aware, with a continuous improvement mindset.
