Senior Bookkeeper Job OverviewManage day-to-day client bookkeeping across a varied portfolio including sole traders, limited companies, and partnerships.Complete accurate sales and purchase ledger processing, bank reconciliations, and trial balance preparation.Prepare and submit VAT returns and CIS returns, ensuring full compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) guidelines.Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts along with supporting reconciliation schedules.Onboard new clients onto cloud software and assist with digital migration and process improvements.Ensure all client bookkeeping files are completed accurately and statutory filing deadlines are consistently met.Assist in the training, development, and day-to-day queries of junior members of staff and apprentices. Senior Bookkeeper Job RequirementsA minimum of 3 years of proven bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice is essential.AAT Level 3/4 or ICB qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable, though candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.Advanced proficiency in major cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and receipt-processing tools (e.g., Dext, Hubdoc).Solid understanding of UK VAT regulations, CIS schemes, and Making Tax Digital compliance.Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, busy team.Commitment to onsite working in the Leeds office.
