Merchandiser - Pet

We have an exciting opportunity for a Merchandiser to join our Pet team. Working closely with the Buyer, you'll play a key role in driving category performance, managing stock availability and delivering commercial success within a busy trading environment.

This role would suit an experienced Merchandiser or an ambitious Junior Merchandiser ready for their next step. Whilst experience within FMCG would be beneficial, we would also welcome applications from candidates with experience across Pet, General Merchandise, Home, Seasonal, DIY, Value Retail or other high-volume retail categories.

The role is full-time and based at our Support Centre in Speke, Liverpool (L24).

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For:

• Assisting with the creation and management of weekly stock orders, ensuring products are delivered into the business efficiently.
• Driving category performance during key trading periods, including new product launches and seasonal peaks.
• Maintaining optimum stock levels throughout the year, balancing availability, demand and inventory risk.
• Analysing sales performance, customer trends and market opportunities to make informed commercial decisions and identify opportunities for growth.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to maximise sales and profitability across the range.
• Maintaining and updating WSSI reports and line cards on a daily basis.
• Working to category calendars and forecasting demand for key lines over both short and long-term trading periods.
• Producing and manipulating reports using Excel to support commercial decision-making.
• Collaborating closely with Buying, Supply Chain and other key stakeholders to deliver category objectives.

The Skills and Experience You'll Bring:

• Proven experience as a Merchandiser or a Junior Merchandiser eager to step up into a Merchandiser role.
• Retail merchandising experience gained within FMCG, Pet, General Merchandise, Home, Seasonal, DIY, Value Retail or similar product-led categories.
• Strong stock management, replenishment and forecasting experience.
• Results-orientated with a track record of driving sales, stock optimisation and category performance.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to use data to influence commercial decisions.
• Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders.
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience manipulating large volumes of data.
• Commercially aware, with a strong understanding of retail trading and customer behaviour.
