About the role
G MASS Consulting are supporting a leading Lloyd's of London managing agency based in the City. We're looking for a SQL Server Developer to join their BI team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering a period of maternity leave. In this role, you'll create new and maintain existing SQL Server objects supporting an in-house developed data warehouse. You'll work closely with business users, internal clients and the wider BI team to analyse requirements and deliver technical solutions.
This role offers hybrid working, with 2–3 days per week in the office. Hours are flexible, based on a 7-hour working day with a start time between 8am and 10am. The role is available to start as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Develop SSRS reports, maintain SQL Server database objects and SSIS packages, and provide ad hoc data extracts
- Work with clients, business users and the BI team to analyse requirements and recommend technical solutions
- Troubleshoot issues and carry out business-as-usual tasks supporting clients and employees
- Manage all changes in line with release procedures, including source control, peer reviews and full testing cycles
- Provide technical support to SharePoint and web developers, including cover during absences
- Help develop the business's API and cloud computing capabilities
- Support the onboarding of new clients, working accurately to tight deadlines
Requirements
- Minimum of five years' experience working as a developer
- Strong T-SQL knowledge and a good understanding of the SQL Server stack, including SSRS and SSIS; SQL Azure preferred
- C#, SharePoint, web development or API experience is an advantage
- Strong analytical and documentation skills, with keen attention to detail
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with colleagues, clients and external companies
- Able to prioritise multiple tasks and work accurately under pressure
- Degree in a mathematical or IT discipline desirable, though relevant SQL Server experience will be considered
- Insurance or Financial Services experience is a plus but not a requirement; experience in a live environment is desirable
