Skilled Engineer

Skilled CNC Engineer Location: Leeds Hours: 37 hours per week Department: Production We are looking for a skilled CNC Engineer to join a small, busy production team. The successful candidate will have experience setting and operating CNC machinery, producing high–quality components to specification and within agreed production timescales. This is a varied, hands–on role involving CNC turning, batch production, quality inspection and general machine maintenance. Key Responsibilities Set and operate a range of CNC machinery, including Citizen sliding head machines, fixed head twin–turret lathes and CNC chucking lathes. Carry out basic CNC programme editing where required. Undertake batch production to meet volume, cost and quality targets. Complete first–off, last–off and in–process inspections. Ensure components are manufactured within specified tolerances. Maintain production output and ensure orders are completed on time. Carry out basic machine maintenance and general housekeeping. Maintain high standards of quality, health and safety. Follow 5S principles and maintain an organised working environment. Contribute to continuous improvement and Six Sigma initiatives. Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets. Skills and Experience Required Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC machinery. Experience with CNC lathes, ideally including sliding head machinery. Ability to identify and resolve technical and machine–related issues. Good understanding of engineering drawings and machining tolerances. Strong numerical, logical and methodical approach to work. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks. Flexible and proactive approach to work. Qualifications & Experience Ideally apprentice–trained in Mechanical Engineering. At least one year's hands–on experience setting and operating CNC machinery. Good understanding of 5S methodology. Proven ability to deliver quality components on time and to production requirements.
