About the role
South Yorkshire | £80,000 - £100,000 + Benefits
A well-established, family-owned construction business based in South Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Senior Manager from the construction sector to take control of the day to day running of this long-standing business.
Specialising in small, quality residential new build developments. The owners are now looking to appoint a commercially astute and operationally focused Managing Director to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company, allowing them to step back from the operational management of the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proven senior leader who combines strong commercial awareness with hands-on construction management expertise.
The Role
Reporting directly to the business owners, you will take full responsibility for the operational and commercial performance of the business, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the overall day-to-day management of the business
- Driving commercial performance, profitability and cashflow management
- Overseeing up to 2 residential new build developments at any one time from pre-construction through to completion
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and key stakeholders
- Managing risk, compliance and operational excellence across all areas of the business
- Implementing continuous improvements to systems, processes and performance
- Managing direct and subcontract labour onsite
- Managing a small office-based team
About You
We are interested in speaking with ambitious construction leaders who have operated at Senior Operations or Director level within the residential construction sector.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience within residential new build construction
- A strong commercial background with proven P&L responsibility
- Experience leading and developing successful operational teams
- Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills
- Strong financial and commercial acumen
- Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on leadership style
- Experience managing multiple projects, teams and business functions simultaneously
- A clear understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the housebuilding or residential construction market.
