About the role
Technology Systems Administrator
Based in Bolton – Hybrid working
Basic salary up to £50,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits, 34 days holidays, private healthcare, non-contributory pension, bonus, and many more, excellent career progression.
As an M365 Engineer and SharePoint Administrator, you will serve as the organisation’s subject-matter expert for Microsoft SharePoint and the wider Microsoft 365 platform.
As a M365 Engineer and SharePoint Administrator, you will support, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade SharePoint solutions, workflows, automations, and data services that improve efficiency, enhance user experience, and support the Companies ’s digital strategy.
Collaborating with stakeholders across the business, you will help maximise the value of the platform, ensure it is governed in line with best practice and promote modern digital ways of working.
This role requires strong hands-on administration skills, excellent problem-solving ability, and the capability to guide the ongoing development of the M365 SharePoint environment. It also supports the wider Companies IT team in delivering high-quality service to colleagues.
Candidate Skills
- A technology-related degree or qualified by experience.
- Microsoft certifications, such as SharePoint, Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals or equivalent, and ITIL Foundation are desirable but not essential.
- Experience administering and optimising SharePoint Online sites, structures, and permissions.
- Ability to integrate SharePoint with Microsoft 365 services and connectors.
- Experience supporting SharePoint-hosted basic document libraries.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and user guidance.
- Able to work independently across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in automation and digital transformation.
- Self-motivated, proactive and confident working independently.
- Excellent planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
- Collaborative, with the ability to influence, support and guide stakeholders.
- Flexible and innovative, with a continuous improvement mindset.
Beneficial Experience:
- Any experience of migration file shared to SharePoint libraries, creating custom components and page designs.
- Working in a regulated or governed environment.
- Using DevOps or version-controlled deployment methods, supporting, or mentoring citizen developers.
Duties
- Maintain and support the Companies ’s M365 SharePoint platform, including document collaboration sites.
- Help users gain maximum value from SharePoint and the wider M365 toolset.
- Oversee SharePoint security access controls and shared data repositories, ensuring DLP policies, security best practice and compliance controls are applied.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex SharePoint Online technical queries.
- Lead the design, configuration and optimisation of SharePoint Online sites, libraries, content types, and permission structures.
- Create and maintain clear documentation, including solution designs, governance frameworks, user guides, and release notes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse business processes and produce detailed functional and technical specifications.
- Deliver M365 collaboration and automation improvements, including Teams integrations, document automation, and workflow redesign.
- Provide targeted training, coaching and guidance to end users and citizen developers to support safe adoption of low-code tools within personal and team SharePoint sites.
- Regularly review and govern site structures and the wider estate, conducting housekeeping in line with data retention policy and best practice.
- Support the Companies ’s digital transformation roadmap by identifying enhancements, new capabilities, and process automation opportunities.
- Ensure all solutions meet security, compliance, and quality standards, supported by appropriate testing, validation, and release control.
- Work with third-party technical partners where required to resolve complex integration or platform issues.
- Provide specialist expertise to the wider Technology team during cross-functional projects and M365 service improvements.
- Work autonomously, managing project workload, priorities, and timelines to meet delivery expectations.
