About the role

Our client is opening a brand new clinic in Beckenham and is looking for a passionate Clinical Director to help shape its future from the very beginning. This is a rare opportunity to lead, inspire, and build a team within a beautifully designed, purpose-built environment, redefining what exceptional veterinary care looks and feels like.

The Role

As an experienced veterinary surgeon and leader, you will be responsible for the delivery of overall clinic performance, encompassing clinical, financial, and people perspectives. You will understand and be passionate about the aims and model of the practice, promoting these to your team and clients. Within this framework, you will have autonomy to lead the clinic, supported and guided by the wider leadership team. You will directly line manage, support, and develop the vet team, the nursing director, and the practice director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the highest standards of clinical care to patients through good leadership and team engagement.

  • Direct and promote membership and client acquisition.

  • Direct the clinic strategy on a local level and oversee critical areas (HR, recruitment, health & safety, marketing, client care).

  • Budget planning and financial delivery.

  • Lead the practice and the vet team, serving as the figurehead of the clinic and leading by example.

  • Spend 80% of your time clinically, allowing all team members to work to their maximum qualification.

  • Ensure excellent teamwork and clinical governance, identifying and addressing any clinical performance issues.

  • Direct education and CPD within the team, committing to an evidence-based medicine approach.

  • Organise and implement clinical audits and identify new clinical opportunities.

  • Ensure membership is a key focus, working alongside the membership manager to achieve targets.

  • Oversee client complaints, both clinical and non-clinical.

  • Understand the business model and KPIs, working within allocated budgets to drive financial performance.

  • Line manage the Practice Manager and the Nursing Director, developing direct reports through regular 1-2-1s and PDRs.

  • Foster a culture of respect and inclusion, identifying and addressing wellbeing issues early.

  • Promote the aims and ethos of the practice within the veterinary industry and local community.

What's on Offer

  • Working in a beautiful clinic, alongside highly skilled veterinary professionals.

  • Being part of a people (and animal) first culture.

  • 25 days annual leave, plus your birthday off.

  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme.

  • World-class team, with room to grow and learn.

  • Regular company social events.
