Are you a passionate safeguarding professional ready to step into a fast-paced frontline role?


We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Locum Senior Social Worker to join a busy MASH Team in the Greater Manchester area, where you will be at the heart of safeguarding practice, managing complex referrals and working with partner agencies to protect vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen and triage all incoming safeguarding referrals to determine risk and required action
  • Undertake information gathering, analysis, and initial enquiries with partner agencies to inform safeguarding decisions
  • Ensure cases are progressed swiftly in line with Care Act 2014 duties and safeguarding thresholds
  • Chair and contribute to strategy meetings and safeguarding enquiries
  • Provide clear professional recommendations based on risk, need and legal frameworks
  • Deliver robust safeguarding plans that reduce risk and protect vulnerable adults
  • Supervise and mentor social workers, offering professional guidance and oversight on safeguarding practices
  • Collaborate closely with Health, Police, Housing, and other statutory and voluntary partners to ensure timely and effective outcomes
  • Manage a complex caseload with competing priorities, exercising sound professional judgement under pressure
  • Support the wider team in embedding good safeguarding practice, learning from audits, reviews, and case discussions

To be considered for the role, ideally you will have:

  • Experience of dealing with safeguarding referrals, screening, enquiries and information gathering
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Proven experience of effective multi-agency working
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying safeguarding experience
  • Must be legally literate with a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation
  • Previous experience as a Senior Social Worker with responsibility for supervising social workers
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
