About the role

St Michael's Church of England Primary School is looking for a dedicated Year 5 Class Teacher to join its vibrant team of teaching staff on a maternity cover contract, with effect from September 2026.

Contract: Maternity cover – effective from September 2026.

We are an open and inclusive primary school, educating children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. Located in the garrison town of Larkhill, Wiltshire, our school aims to spark interest, ignite a passion for learning and fire up ambition to inspire every child to recognise and exceed expectations. Our staff provide a challenging, yet nurturing, environment based on our Christian values and we are committed to learning outside the classroom, as much as inside; with regular trips planned and visitors invited in to help make the learning relevant and linked to both our local community and the wider world. In May 2022 we joined Acorn Education Trust, which has provided exciting opportunities to improve local education and draw on collective experience.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to becoming a truly excellent teacher;
  • Can teach a broad range of engaging and effective lessons that motivate, inspire and improve student attainment;
  • Can plan and deliver lessons and sequences of lessons to the highest standard that ensure real learning takes place and students make superior progress;
  • Has good knowledge and awareness of current initiatives in the Primary / KS2 Curriculum;
  • Is able to raise attainment and challenge students to achieve their best;
  • Is an effective team member who can contribute positively to the work in the KS2 team and across the wider school community;
  • Has a positive, cheerful outlook with a good sense of humour;
  • Is able to forge good relationships with students and staff;
  • Is able to work hard and remain calm under pressure;
  • Has a desire to work within the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) structure.

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • An ambitious and vibrant place to work, with enthusiastic children and staff who are passionate about learning;
  • A workplace where everyone feels valued and supported;
  • Opportunities for training and progression;
  • The support of Acorn Education Trust, with excellent opportunities to work with experienced colleagues;
  • A supportive and clearly defined induction procedure.
