About the role
SES Casework Support Assistant
Job descriptionFull Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Leicester City Council's Special Education Service (SES) is seeking an organised, proactive and family-focused Casework Support Assistant to join our dedicated SEND team.
This is an exciting opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by helping to coordinate key Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes. Working closely with SEND Inclusion Officers, you will play an important role in ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and that families receive a responsive, high-quality service throughout their SEND journey.
As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will provide essential administrative and casework support across a range of SEND activities, helping to ensure that assessments, reviews and placement processes are managed efficiently and within statutory timescales. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys managing information, coordinating complex processes and making a positive difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.
What You'll Be Doing
In this varied role, you will support SEND Inclusion Officers with a range of EHCP processes, including assessments, annual reviews, amendments and placement consultations. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate case records and correspondence, coordinating the collection of professional advice and supporting the team to meet statutory deadlines and service requirements.
A key part of the role will involve communicating with parents, carers, schools, colleges, health professionals and partner agencies, helping to ensure that information is shared effectively and that families are supported throughout the EHCP process. You will also assist with the preparation of documentation for panels, meetings, mediation processes and SEND Tribunal proceedings, including the production of tribunal bundles and supporting paperwork.
Working within agreed procedures, you will ensure that records are maintained accurately and that all information is handled in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.
What You'll Need
You will have experience of providing excellent customer service and building positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders. Experience within an administrative, casework support or public service environment is essential, and experience within SEND, education, health or social care would be advantageous.
You'll be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines within a busy environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, alongside confidence in using Microsoft Office applications and electronic record management systems.
You will also be able to analyse information, identify appropriate actions and maintain accurate records. Above all, you will share our commitment to collaborative working and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
An awareness of SEND legislation, Education, Health and Care Plans and related processes would be beneficial, although training and support will be provided.
What We Can Offer You
Working for Leicester City Council means being part of an organisation committed to improving outcomes for children and young people across the city. In return, we offer a supportive and inclusive working environment, opportunities for professional development and career progression, and the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and their families.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Lucy Jones or Lois Martin, SES Team Leaders.
Interviews/Assessments will take place on week commencing 16th of November
