About the role
Location: Winchester
Salary: £29,722 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours)
Hours: 30 hours per week

Reporting to: Deputy Service Manager (Co-Located Services)

About the Role
Joneshouse Recruitment is recruiting for a compassionate and experienced Domestic Abuse Housing Advocate to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse within housing and homelessness services in Winchester.
This role involves providing high-quality crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, and resettlement support to individuals and families affected by domestic abuse. The successful candidate will work closely with housing teams, local authorities, and partner agencies to support survivors in maintaining safe accommodation and rebuilding independent lives.

Key Responsibilities
Supporting Victims / Survivors in Accommodation Services
- Provide intensive support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse living within dispersed accommodation
- Support individuals and families to maintain safe accommodation and develop independent living skills
- Deliver immediate and ongoing safety planning for families and individuals
- Provide one-to-one support and facilitate family-focused support plans
- Empower families to recover from the effects of domestic abuse and move towards independent living
Advocacy & Crisis Support
- Deliver high-quality crisis intervention, advocacy, and practical support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse
- Support both individuals and families, including children and young people
- Work collaboratively with housing and homelessness services to strengthen responses to domestic abuse
- Promote awareness and understanding of domestic abuse within partner agencies and local services
Multi-Agency Working
- Develop effective working relationships with:
- Local authorities
- Housing services
- Social care teams
- Police
- Education providers
- Voluntary and community organisations
- Advocate on behalf of victims, survivors, children, and young people where appropriate
- Make and respond to safeguarding referrals in line with local and national guidance
Administration & Service Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case records and referral statistics
- Effectively use electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Participate in supervision, appraisals, training, and team meetings
- Assist with service delivery cover during staff absences where required
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, confidentiality, lone working, and data protection procedures
- Take responsibility for ongoing professional development and training
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with vulnerable adults, children, or families
- Strong understanding of Adult and Child Safeguarding principles and procedures
- Experience working within a multi-agency environment
- Ability to prioritise and manage conflicting workloads effectively
- Understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection legislation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong crisis management and problem-solving abilities
- Understanding of Housing and Homelessness legislation within the domestic abuse sector
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems
- Understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusive practice
- Understanding of lone working procedures
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes

- This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check
- Flexibility may occasionally be required to meet service needs
- The successful candidate will be expected to maintain high professional standards and safeguarding responsibilities at all times
