About the role
- Design, build, test, deploy and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products from source systems through to analytics and reporting layers
- Provide technical leadership across complex or cross-functional delivery work
- Own and support key data pipelines, including incident resolution, root cause analysis and controlled releases
- Deliver solutions aligned to agreed CI/CD practices, engineering standards and architectural principles
- Implement and maintain data quality checks, monitoring, alerting and automation
- Ensure data pipelines meet requirements for security, lineage, documentation, naming conventions and governance standards
- Translate business and analytical requirements into robust technical designs
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Data, Analytics, Governance and Engineering functions
- Contribute to continuous improvement, reusable patterns and engineering best practice adoption
- Provide mentoring and guidance to other engineers where required
- Snowflake – primary cloud data platform for warehousing and analytics
- Microsoft Azure – cloud infrastructure and data services
- dbt (Data Build Tool) – transformation layer and analytics engineering
- Microsoft Fabric – pipeline orchestration and integrated data platform services
- Alteryx – beneficial for workflow automation and data blending use cases
- Oracle Database – advantageous for legacy or enterprise source system integration
- Strong experience in data engineering within modern cloud environments
- Ideally, experience in setting up Snowflake environments in Greenfield projects
- Proven delivery of scalable, production-grade data pipelines
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps principles and automated testing in data environments
- Experience working with complex source systems and transforming data into analytics-ready structures
- Confident working with stakeholders to define and deliver data requirements
- Strong focus on data quality, governance, observability and operational excellence
- Edinburgh-based hybrid working (2–3 days per week onsite)
- 6-month initial contract
- £500 per day (Inside IR35)
