Service Driver – Walsall, West Midlands

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Service Driver to join our well-established client based in Walsall, West Midlands.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering £12.71 per hour, ongoing work, weekly pay, immediate starts and opportunities for growth and progression. The role involves driving 3.5-tonne vehicles, servicing and exchanging equipment at customer sites and supporting general yard operations.

This position is ideal for applicants who have previously worked as a Service Driver, 3.5 Tonne Driver, Van Driver, Delivery Driver or Field Service Driver.

Important: This role operates on a rota that includes weekend working.

 • Rota-based shifts, including weekends
 • 08:00 – 16:00

 • £12.71 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As a Service Driver, your duties will include:

 • Swapping out equipment at customer sites
 • Servicing equipment at customer locations
 • Carrying out general yard duties
 • Driving and operating 3.5-tonne vehicles safely and efficiently
 • Completing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
 • Ensuring loads are safely secured before transportation
 • Following UK road traffic legislation and company procedures
 • Communicating effectively with dispatch teams and customers
 • Reporting vehicle defects and maintenance issues promptly
 • Assisting with loading and unloading when required

Essential Skills

To be successful as a Service Driver, you will need:

 • Valid UK Category B Driving Licence
 • Minimum 12 months’ experience driving Category B vehicles
 • No more than six penalty points for minor offences, with no major endorsements
 • Good knowledge of the UK road network
 • Good spoken and written English
 • Excellent punctuality and time management skills
 • Strong understanding of road safety and traffic regulations
 • Effective communication and customer service skills
 • Flexibility to work rota-based shifts, including weekends

Desirable Experience

 • Previous commercial driving experience
 • Experience driving 3.5-tonne vehicles
 • Previous equipment servicing or delivery experience

Training Provided

 • Driver assessment required before starting
 • One-day paid induction following a successful assessment
 • Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your assignment
