Markets OperativeLocation: Markets within Walsall Borough Rate: £14.14 per hour PAYE Contract: Temporary, 3 months with potential to extend Potential for Permanent Opportunities to become available while on temporary placement Start Date: ASAPOpus People Solutions are pleased to be recruiting for a Markets Operative on behalf of Walsall Council. This is an excellent opportunity for a hardworking and reliable individual to join the Markets Team, supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and presentation of markets across the borough.This role involves a variety of outdoor, hands-on duties and requires candidates who are comfortable undertaking physical work in all weather conditions.Working Hours7 hours per week - Wednesdays only.Split shifts with an unpaid break between shiftsAM Shift: 4:00am - 8:00amPM Shift: 2:00pm - 5:00pmUnsocial hours enhancement applicable for hours worked before 6:00am.Weekly rotas will be provided directly by Walsall CouncilKey ResponsibilitiesSetting up and dismantling market stallsMoving and positioning bins across market sitesLitter picking and maintaining clean market environmentsEngaging professionally with market traders and members of the publicReporting issues and updates to the Team Leader and Market Operational ManagerSpreading grit and rock salt during icy weather conditionsSupporting the upkeep of market infrastructureCleaning stalls, bins, compounds and communal areasCarrying out basic weeding and general site maintenanceAssisting with the smooth operation of market activitiesEssential Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience undertaking manual or physical workAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditions and temperaturesFull UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle for travel to and from the market siteAbility to work independently and as part of a small teamGood communication and customer service skillsConfidence when engaging with traders and members of the publicAbility to represent Walsall Council professionallyAbility to use basic hand tools and equipmentReliable, flexible and willing to undertake early morning starts If you are a practical, hardworking individual who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a team that supports local markets and communities, we would love to hear from you.Apply today with your up-to-date CV.All offers will be subject to satisfactory compliance screening, including right to work in the UK and references.
