Senior Social Worker

Bedford Borough Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to join their Children’s Services on a locum basis. This role is ideal for a confident practitioner who can lead by example, manage complex cases, and support less experienced colleagues in delivering high-quality social work practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hold and manage a complex caseload involving Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children.

• Lead on complex assessments and care planning to ensure the best outcomes for children and families.

• Provide guidance, mentoring, and professional support to less experienced social workers and contribute to team development.

• Work closely with multi-agency partners to deliver effective safeguarding and care planning.

• Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for court proceedings, conferences, and reviews.

• Ensure practice adheres to legislation, statutory guidance, and Bedford’s local policies and procedures.
