About the role
Emergency Medicine Middle Grade Locum - Altnagelvin Hospital, Full Rota (3 Months+)
We are recruiting experienced Emergency Medicine Middle Grade locum doctors (ST3+ / Specialty Doctor grade) for lines on the full rota at Altnagelvin Hospital, part of the Western Health and Social Care Trust. This is a 3-month+ assignment covering days, nights and weekends from May 2026, with an immediate ASAP start. Pay rate is £60–£70/hr assignment rate.
The role involves full rota duties in the Emergency Department at Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry — one of Northern Ireland's busiest regional emergency departments, serving the north-west. Successful candidates will cover a broad range of acute emergency presentations across day, evening and night shifts including weekends, as part of the established consultant-led team.
Essential requirements: minimum 4 years' post-FY1 experience (or equivalent), including at least 18 months in an Emergency Department. Candidates must hold valid AccessNI clearance and have an up-to-date GMC registration with licence to practise. All locum file documentation must be complete before submission. Candidates should be available and willing to work in Northern Ireland and committed to fulfilling the full duration of the rota requirement.
