Electronics Engineer job in Aberdeen – Up to £40K

Sonomatic is looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join its engineering team, developing cutting-edge automated ultrasonic inspection systems for the global NDT industry. This is primarily a development-focused role, involving the design of new electronic equipment while also providing support for existing products. You’ll work on innovative projects ranging from subsea inspection systems to advanced robotic inspection technologies used in demanding industrial environments worldwide.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Strong understanding of electronics theory and electronic system design
• Experience designing and developing PCBs
• Firmware development using C
• Experience with motor drives and encoders
• Knowledge of RS485 and Ethernet communications
• System and component-level fault finding
• Experience using diagnostic equipment including oscilloscopes, signal generators, and digital multimeters
• PCB assembly, testing, and hand soldering (THT and SMT)
• Experience supporting electronic hardware throughout its lifecycle
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Desirable Experience:

• Experience with Proteus, MPLAB, or TeraTerm
• Experience developing equipment for subsea environments
• Knowledge of electronics redesign for component obsolescence
• Systems assembly and integration
