Senior Transmission & Grid Technical Lead

Senior Transmission & Grid Technical Lead Our client is seeking a Senior Transmission & Grid Technical Lead to support the delivery of major power infrastructure programmes. This permanent position combines technical leadership, project management, stakeholder engagement and commercial support across high-voltage transmission and distribution projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of complex transmission and power infrastructure projects.
• Provide senior technical guidance on grid connection, transmission and substation developments.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring technical quality, programme performance and effective stakeholder engagement.
• Support business development activities, including bid preparation, tender submissions and client engagement.
• Provide technical expertise relating to network owner requirements, procurement routes and project delivery models.
• Review and contribute to engineering designs, technical documentation and project solutions.
• Support capability growth through mentoring, knowledge sharing and technical leadership.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, network operators and key project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Significant experience within the electricity transmission and distribution sector.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage transmission infrastructure and project delivery.
• Experience working on major transmission network projects.
• Familiarity with utility, transmission owner and distribution network environments.
• Background within an engineering consultancy, infrastructure contractor, developer or network organisation.
• Experience managing projects and supporting technical proposals and client submissions.
• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Knowledge of transmission and distribution procurement and delivery processes.
• Established industry network across the UK energy and infrastructure sector.
• Experience supporting business growth and client development activities.
• Understanding of grid connections, power systems and the wider energy transition.
