CNC Machinist - AXYZ Location: Leeds
Pay: £18.50 - £20.50 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

Are you an experienced CNC Machinist with experience setting, operating and ideally programming CNC machinery?

We're recruiting for an established engineering manufacturer in Leeds that is looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to take responsibility for an AXYZ CNC machine.

This isn't a basic machine operating role. We're looking for someone who understands the machining process and can bring experience across operating, setting, programme editing and ideally programming.

Direct AXYZ experience would be highly desirable, although candidates with strong transferable experience on CNC routers or similar CNC machinery will also be considered.

What you'll be doing

• Setting and operating an AXYZ CNC machine.
  
  
• Loading, running and adjusting CNC programmes.
  
  
• Programming depending on your level of experience.
  
  
• Setting jobs independently.
  
  
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  
  
• Selecting and setting appropriate tooling.
  
  
• Setting datum points and offsets.
  
  
• Carrying out tool changes.
  
  
• Adjusting machining parameters where required.
  
  
• Monitoring machining cycles and making adjustments.
  
  
• Carrying out first-off and in-process quality checks.
  
  
• Using measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification.
  
  
• Troubleshooting machining, tooling and programme issues.
  
  
• Taking ownership of your machine and the quality of work produced.
  
  

What we're looking for Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous CNC machining experience.
  
  
• CNC setting experience.
  
  
• Experience operating CNC machinery independently.
  
  
• Programme editing and/or CNC programming knowledge.
  
  
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
  
  
• Good understanding of tooling.
  
  
• Experience setting offsets and carrying out tool changes.
  
  
• Good understanding of tolerances and quality requirements.
  
  
• Strong problem-solving skills.
  
  

Previous experience with AXYZ machinery or CNC routers would be advantageous, but it isn't essential if you have strong transferable CNC skills.

We're also looking for someone with drive and initiative who takes pride in their work and wants responsibility for their machine rather than simply running pre-set jobs.
