SEN Teaching Assistant – The role Islington, North London Primary school Long-term, full-time role 8:30am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday £99 – £110 per day ASAP start Long-term placement SEN Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN. Support children with ASD and SEMH needs. Assist with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation. Support positive behaviour and engagement in learning. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO. Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs. Create a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment. Encourage pupils’ confidence, independence and social development. Build positive relationships with pupils and the wider school team. SEN Teaching Assistant - About You The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have: Previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in a primary school setting. Experience supporting pupils with ASD and/or SEMH needs. A patient, calm and nurturing approach. Confidence supporting emotional regulation and behaviour. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with teachers and the SENCO. The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils. A flexible and consistent approach when supporting children with additional needs. A genuine passion for supporting children’s development, wellbeing and progress.
